Mukdenia rossii

Crimson Fans

Aceriphyllum rossii

Deciduous, Herbaceous Groundcover, Perennial

Can be a bit tricky to make happy, but wonderful foliage is worth the effort if you can find a spot for it. Wants regular moisture and protection from afternoon sun. This ground-covering perennial is a relative to the widely-known and widely-grown heuchera. It is slowly clumping, reaching 1 ft x 1 ft. Best in well-drained soil with generous water until established. After which, it is a bit more drought-tolerant. In spring the leaves are a bright, shiny green accompanied by puffs of white flowers.  Late in the season, the foliage color deepens to rich autumnal tones, with a reddish-orange cast. Grow in sun to part shade.
