Flame Thrower redbud is a deciduous tree grown primarily for its foliage. At any point during the growing season, the canopy holds a full range of color simultaneously—golden yellow through orange to deep burgundy—all on the same plant at the same time. The effect is what the name promises.

Flowers are bright pink, appearing on bare branches in early spring. Leaves are heart-shaped and large, giving the tree a coarse texture. Moderate growth rate; reaches 15–20 ft. tall and 15 ft. wide in 10 years. Full sun to partial sun; well-drained soil, moderate water once established. Hardy to Zone 5.
