Alchemilla alpina

Alpine Lady's Mantle, Mountain Lady's Mantle

Alchemilla conjuncta

Semi-evergreen Groundcover, Perennial

Alchemilla alpina, commonly known as Alpine Lady's Mantle or Mountain Lady's Mantle, is a semi-evergreen groundcover perennial. It is also known by its synonym, Alchemilla conjuncta. This adaptable plant thrives in a variety of conditions, tolerating both full sun and part shade. It prefers well-drained soil and will even flourish in clay or sandy soil with adequate drainage.

Alpine Lady's Mantle produces a dense, low-spreading mat of foliage, typically reaching a height of 4 to 8 inches. Its leaves are a distinctive round shape, with a unique, slightly crinkled texture. The foliage has a silvery-green hue, making a striking contrast against other plants.

In late spring and early summer, this groundcover is adorned with small, cup-shaped, yellow-green flowers. These flowers add a subtle charm to the overall aesthetic, attracting bees and other beneficial insects.

Alpine Lady's Mantle is known for its low maintenance requirements. It is an excellent choice for edging pathways, filling in gaps between pavers, or creating a groundcover in rock gardens. This plant is deer and rabbit resistant.
