Plant Combination for Shade

The snowy-white foliage of the floating cloud maple is perfect for illuminating a shady spot.

Hardy fuchsias are wonderful, easy-care perennials that flower over an incredibly long season. The color interplay between the hardy fuchsia and Heuchera ‘Amethyst Myst’ is zippy and fun. Evergreen clumps of strappy foliage on the Astelia 'Red Gem', feathery fern fronds, and the uncommonly large leaves of Bergenia ciliata ‘Dumbo’ provide nice variety of plant forms and foliage shapes in shades of green.

Astelia aren’t as widely available as I’d like, so you might run into trouble finding it available for purchase. This plant combination continues to work very well without it, as you can see here.
