Low-maintenance Plant Combo Offering Color Through the Seasons

The centerpiece of the this vignette is Hydrangea serrata 'Preziosa', prized for its ever-evolving display. Ivory flowers age to pink, and over time become more red. Emerging foliage and newer stems have hints of red that fade to green, before intensifying again in fall. Brunnera 'Jack Frost' is prized for its large, heart-shaped silver foliage that looks great from spring to late fall, though sprays of blue flowers in spring are a welcome addition. Joined by Geranium 'Mavis Simpson' they carpet the ground and provide easy blooms from spring onward. All this within a frame of bright evergreen foliage from Abelia 'Kaleidoscope' and the plum yew. The result is an ever-evolving display with great foliage and plenty of non-fussy flowers.

This combination was inspired by reviewing the online inventory of Blooming Junction in Cornelius, Oregon on March 27, 2020. However, all of the plants mentioned are regularly available in and around the Portland area.
