Foliage Combo for Sun with Abelia and Juniper, Enlivened by Summer Blooms

The duo of easy-to-grow, evergreen shrubs make a fantastic foliage pair and are the solid, all-season footing for this sun-loving vignette. The perennials enliven the scene in summer—with flowers, as well animating the garden by attracting bees, butterflies and hummers. To the left and towards the back, the strappy foliage belongs to Crocosmia, its blooms spent. We've imagined it as C. 'Emily McKenzie' but another reddish-orange variety could be substituted. And to the lower right, were we've presumed Sedum 'Autumn Joy', another sedum, such as S. 'Mr Goodbud' or S. 'Matrona', would work equally well.
