Elegant Foliage, Summer Fragrance, and Fall Blooms

This elegant, low maintenance planting combination provides a pleasing seasonal progression of garden interest nearly year-round. The semi-evergreen Summer Ice daphne has fragrant blooms over an exceptionally long period from late spring into fall. Its gray-green foliage, edged in white coupled with the finely textured and brightly variegated foliage of Miscanthus sinensis 'Morning Light', lend an overall lightness to the scene. As a counterpoint, Symphyotrichum laterifolium 'Prince', a compact calico aster with dark foliage, contributes contrasting color until covered in delicate sprays of pinkish white blooms in fall. All are backed by the hinoki cypress which provides evergreen structure.
