Drought Tolerant Mixed Border for a Hot Spot

This drought tolerant planting combination for full sun provides an ever evolving display from spring to frost. In spring the emerging foliage of Berberis thunbergii 'Rose Glow' is infused with a soft pink that deepens as the months go by, becoming dark burgundy with pinkish tips. Curious yellow whorls of the Jerusalem sage echo the color in the eye of rose and are complemented by the deep purple spires of the salvia. Varied flower shapes, growth habits, foliage color and texture are balanced by and stitched together via the continuing thread of the deeper colors of burgundy and orange.
