It's Garden bloggers Bloom Day and the photos below will give you a taste of what's blooming in my home garden today. This blogging tradition was started by May Dreams Gardens—head on over to her site and you'll find links to posts from gardeners 'round the world and you can see what's blooming in their gardens.
In the interest of actually getting this posted, I'm going to be short on words and long on photos. Enjoy!
Plants bracketed by the symbol 🌿 are on the eGardenGo site—so you can follow the link to get the full rundown on them and get ideas of what to plant with them.
Yes, Combo— we can see you!
My garden buddy, Combohuahua helped me decide what to take photos of this morning. He'd like you to believe he's a good garden helper. Ha! Not so much, but I love him dearly, nevertheless.
Lilium 'Golden Splendor'
This yellow lily has been shaded out by other plants the last several years —I did some thinning this spring and I'm to happy to see it make a reappearance.
🌿 Coreopis 🌿 this one is part of the Big Bang series
Heliopsis 'Loraine Sunshine'
🌿 Bupleurum fruticosum 🌿
Hesperaloe parviflora — Red Yucca
Though I've had this in my garden for years, this is the first year it's bloomed for me. I love it.
🌿 Kniphofia 'Timothy' 🌿
🌿 Sempervivum sp. 🌿
There are lots of different varieties of hen and chicks and I don't love all the flowers of them all, but I do like this one!
🌿 Allium 'Mount Everest' 🌿
🌿 Echinacea 'Merlot' 🌿
🌿 Echinacea 'Green Envy' 🌿
🌿 Hosta 🌿 (not entirely sure of variety)
These have been growing in a closed-bottom container for about five years. I do nothing but keep the container full of water and they've given me a wonderful display every year.
🌿 Clematis 'Evijohill' Josephine 🌿
… ages so gracefully—dropping its outer petals while the center remains to extend the show.
Another clematis seed head that is exceptionally good — Clematis 'John Warren'.
🌿 Clematis 'Etoile Violette' 🌿
Steady, reliable, vigorous -- what's not to love about this stand-by variety!
This is a non-vining variety. I have it tumbling out of a container and I've used it for draping over a wall in client gardens.
Hydrangea paniculata Fire and Ice™ is having a great year!
🌿 Hydrangea paniculata 'Bulk' Quick Fire™ 🌿
It's bit slow to unfurl its blooms this year in my garden…getting too much shade, I think. Still a favorite though as it does so well for me in client gardens.
Thanks for coming by!
Hope you enjoyed this whirlwind garden tour as much as I did.
